Garrett & Emily | A Wedding in the Woods at Deep Woods Events

There are weddings where you spend the whole day chasing the light.

And then there are weddings at Deep Woods Events, where the light filters through old-growth forest canopy and does something so green and glowing that you almost forget to breathe. Garrett and Emily's wedding was the second kind. I spent the day surrounded by ferns, towering Douglas firs, and two people who were so genuinely happy to be marrying each other that the camera practically did the work on its own.

Deep Woods is a gem of an Oregon venue — tucked into a lush Pacific Northwest forest, it offers both outdoor ceremony space and a beautiful covered pavilion for the reception. The ceremony setup was simple and perfect: white chairs in rows, wine barrels at the aisle entrance, a geometric wood arch framed by those incredible trees. Nothing competed with the setting, and nothing needed to.

What I loved about this wedding was the boldness of it. Those bridesmaids in deep rust red against a wall of green forest? Electric. Emily's bouquet — full of burnt orange dahlias, sunflowers, and wildflowers — felt like it was designed specifically to pop against a woodland backdrop. And it absolutely did. The details told a story of a couple who knew exactly what they wanted and weren't afraid to commit to it.

And then there was the recessional. That image — Garrett and Emily walking back down the aisle, huge smiles, guests on either side, the arch behind them — is the kind of frame that needs nothing added to it. Pure joy, documented.

The first dance under the pavilion string lights wrapped up a day that felt, start to finish, like it belonged exactly where it happened. In the woods, in Oregon, exactly right.

Garrett and Emily — congratulations. It was such a rare day.
