Skamania Lodge Wedding in the Columbia River Gorge
There's something about the Columbia River Gorge that makes everything feel more alive — the mountains, the air, the light filtering through the trees. It was the perfect backdrop for Jillian and Ryan's wedding day at Skamania Lodge, and honestly, the setting couldn't have been more fitting for two people as warm and genuine as they are.
Before the ceremony, Jillian and Ryan slipped away into the forest to share private vows — just the two of them, surrounded by towering trees and dappled light. It was an intimate, unhurried moment that set the tone for the whole day: personal, heartfelt, and real. Watching Ryan's face as Jillian read to him said everything.
The ceremony itself was held on Skamania's iconic lawn, with the Cascade mountains rolling out behind them, and guests gathered under a wide-open blue sky. It was the kind of view that makes you stop mid-sentence. After they were pronounced married, the two walked back up the aisle, absolutely beaming — you couldn't wipe the smiles off their faces if you tried.
The reception flowed out onto the lodge's open-air pavilion, with those stunning mountain and river views stretching out beyond every table. Guests played cornhole and Kan Jam on the lawn in the evening light, and there was something genuinely joyful about seeing everyone — grandparents, kids, old friends — all just having the best time together.
And then came the s'mores. As the sun went down and the fire pit came to life, guests gathered around with marshmallows and chocolate, the little ones especially serious about their toasting technique. It was the sweetest (literally) way to end the night.
