Natural Light & Vintage Velvet | A Wedding at The Lincoln Loft | Watertown, New York

There are venues that feel like someone built them specifically for photographs. The Lincoln Loft & Studio in downtown Watertown, New York is one of those. Tucked into the charming Lincoln building right on Public Square, it's all natural light and open space and carefully curated vintage details that somehow manage to feel effortless rather than staged. The moment I walked in I understood immediately why Samantha and Jason chose it.

The light in that space is genuinely something special. Soft, even, generous — the kind of light that makes a photographer's job feel less like work and more like just pointing a camera at beautiful things. One of my absolute favorite frames from the entire day was a family portrait on the vintage velvet couch — the kind of image that feels timeless without trying to be, warm and real and completely unhurried. That couch deserves its own credit.

The ceremony was boho and beautiful — layered rugs anchoring the space, light pouring in, the whole room feeling relaxed and intentional at the same time. Samantha and Jason have a warmth between them that translates immediately through a lens, the kind of couple where you don't have to work very hard to find the feeling because it's just right there, all the time.

The cake deserves its own mention — decorated with dried orange slices and cinnamon sticks, it was honestly one of the prettiest I've ever seen. Warm, textured, rustic, and elegant all at once. It fit the space perfectly, and I photographed it accordingly.

And then there were the hangover kits.

Samantha and Jason put together thoughtful little bags for their guests to take home at the end of the night — the kind of detail that tells you everything you need to know about a couple's sense of humor and how well they know their people. Printed on each bag: but did you die? I photographed them and laughed out loud. It was perfect. It was so completely them. The best wedding details are always the ones that make you feel like you already know the couple before you've even met them, and this one delivered.

After the ceremony we slipped out into the streets of Watertown for couples portraits — wandering downtown, finding light, letting the city be the backdrop. There's something about a couple just walking through a place together that produces some of the most natural, alive images of the whole day, and Samantha and Jason were completely in their element out there.

Then we went back inside and danced the night away, as you do when the venue has that kind of energy and the people are that kind of fun.

Samantha and Jason — but did you die? No. You thrived. It was a beautiful day and I loved every second of it.

Real Review:

Leah was so easygoing and made me at ease immediately. I don’t really like to be photographed but she made it much more comfortable! She was so calm and levelheaded day of, which I appreciated in the chaos of the day. All in all she was wonderful to work with and I would recommend her any day.
