A Farm Wedding in Bryant, Indiana | A Fall Day in the Fields

Some weddings feel like they were pulled straight from a dream someone had about what a wedding should be. Golden fields. A white tent. A fall sky doing everything a fall sky knows how to do. And a corgi, because every getting-ready moment is improved by the presence of a corgi.

Peyton got ready in the family home — the kind of detail that adds a layer of meaning to the morning that no hotel suite ever could. There's something about getting dressed for the biggest day of your life surrounded by family, in a space full of history and people who love you, that hits differently. And the corgi was there for all of it, completely unbothered and absolutely adorable, doing what corgis do — which is mostly just existing in a way that makes everything better.

And then came the arrival.

Peyton's father is a firefighter, and she arrived to her wedding on a fire truck. Full stop. There is not a more perfect way to honor your dad on your wedding day than to pull up to your own ceremony on his rig, in your gown, with the whole thing gleaming and the moment completely unforgettable. It was the kind of entrance that made guests stop mid-conversation and just take it in. I was already in position and already smiling and already knew this was going to be one of those days.

The ceremony was beautiful and warm — the kind that feels settled and real, two people who know exactly what they're doing and why. Jerrad watched Peyton come toward him and wore it all right there on his face, which is always the best thing a photographer can hope for.

And then the fields opened up.

Indiana in the fall is something I want everyone to understand. The light goes long and golden and the fields glow and everything has this warmth to it that feels like it was designed specifically for this purpose. We ran through those fields at sunset — Peyton and Jerrad completely in their element, laughing, moving, fully themselves — and the light just gave and gave. Those are the kinds of portrait sessions that feel less like work and more like being in exactly the right place at exactly the right time.

We came back to the white tent as the stars started showing up and the music got going, and the rest of the night belonged to everyone who loved these two. Dancing under a tent in a field in Indiana at the end of a perfect fall day — there really isn't much better than that.

Peyton and Jerrad — what a day. What an absolutely beautiful day. Thank you for letting me be there for it.
