A Winery Wedding at Indian Creek | Kuna, Idaho

Some friendships are geography-made. I moved to Boise in 2016 not knowing many people, and Misty was one of the first real friends I made there. She's an incredibly talented ceramic artist — if you don't already follow her work at @wanderandflux, you are missing out, genuinely — and the kind of creative person who makes everything around her more interesting.

It happened to be at one of the most beautiful spots in the Treasure Valley.

Indian Creek Winery in Kuna, Idaho, is a hidden gem, about thirty minutes outside of Boise in the Snake River Valley — a second-generation, sustainably grown winery with gardens that are nothing short of spectacular. Dahlias everywhere, lush greenery, vineyards stretching out in every direction, the kind of grounds that feel tucked away from the world and completely alive at the same time. As a photographer, it's the kind of venue that keeps giving all day long — soft light through the gardens, texture everywhere, natural beauty doing most of the heavy lifting.

Misty is a ceramic artist and Hudson is the kind of person who keeps up with her creative energy — which meant their wedding had a warmth and personality that was completely their own. Two creatives who found each other, surrounded by beauty they actually appreciated. I love working with people like this. They see the world a certain way, and it shows up in every photograph.

And then came the first dance.

Misty and Hudson did the Pulp Fiction dance. The one. Perfectly committed, completely delightful, the whole room losing it in the best possible way. It is one of my all-time favorite first dance moments in fifteen years of photographing weddings — the kind of choice that tells you everything about a couple in about thirty seconds. Playful, confident, completely themselves. I was shooting with a huge smile on my face and I'm not sure it left for the rest of the night.

Misty — I'm so glad Boise introduced us, and I'm so glad I got to be there for this. You and Hudson are wonderful together. Now go make some beautiful pots.
