Three Generations | Andrea, Deion & Myla's Family Session in Clackamas County, Oregon
I've had the privilege of photographing Andrea and Deion through more than a few chapters. The engagement. The wedding. The maternity session. And now — Myla.
Myla is the kind of baby who walks into a photo session and immediately becomes the entire session. She arrived with a brown bow in her curls, a cream sweater dress, and a pink stuffed elephant nearly as big as she is — and she had absolute, complete command of the afternoon. When her parents swung her between them by her little hands, she threw her head back and laughed like it was the greatest thing that had ever happened. It might have been.
We did this session at a park in Clackamas County on a fall afternoon when the trees were going full gold and amber. The setting gave us everything: a beautiful weathered log structure as a backdrop for portraits, a wooden bridge deck with the fall color glowing behind the railing, and open space for the whole family to move around in. The light was warm and easy, the kind that makes Oregon fall feel like it exists specifically for family photos.
And it was the whole family. Andrea's parents joined for a portion of the session — grandparents fully absorbed into the Myla orbit, everyone leaning in toward her at once, her looking up at the sky with that particular baby expression of mild wonder. Those multigenerational frames are some of my favorites from the whole shoot. There's something about a grandparent's face when they're looking at a grandchild that I will never get tired of photographing.
