Cozy in Treasure Valley — Kimmy, Keaton, Poppy & Milo's In-Home Session in Nampa, Idaho
There is a particular kind of light that only exists inside a home that's actually being lived in. It comes through the windows at a soft angle, lands on the couch cushions and the gallery wall and the little orange socks left on the floor, and it tells you everything you need to know about the people who live there. That's the light I got to work with when I spent an afternoon with Kimmy, Keaton, Poppy, and baby Milo.
Their home in Nampa is cozy in the best way, the kind of space that's clearly been built around the people in it. The gallery wall alone could tell you their whole story. Wedding photos, baby prints, a monogram frame with a K&K in the middle, old black and white portraits mixed in with new color ones. It's the kind of wall you stand in front of and think, these people love their life.
Milo was the star of the afternoon, and he knew it. That grin, all gums and pure delight, little fists pumping like he was celebrating something only he was aware of, it was relentless. Kimmy would hold him up and he'd just beam at the camera like he'd been waiting for this his whole (very short) life. He and Keaton are practically identical, which makes every photo of them together a little bit absurd and completely wonderful.
And then there's Poppy. Big sister energy fully activated, blonde hair, striped shirt, the kind of smile that's slightly too big for her face in the most perfect way. She held Milo on the couch with the careful confidence of someone who has been practicing this job for months and takes it very seriously. The two of them together — I could have photographed that all day.
These are the sessions I love most. No pressure, no timeline, just a family being exactly themselves inside the space they've made together. Kimmy and Keaton, thank you for having me in your home. Poppy and Milo, you two are something else.
