The Beginning of Everything — Andrea & Deion's Wedding at Red Barn Villa

There are weddings you photograph, and there are weddings that photograph you right back, leaving something with you, changing what you think a wedding day can look and feel like. Andrea and Deion's wedding at Red Barn Villa was that kind of day.

It was 2020. The world was still figuring itself out, and yet here was this couple, surrounded by one of the largest and most genuinely joyful bridal parties I have ever seen, saying yes to each other in front of a towering Pacific Northwest treeline with the sky going all peach and gold behind them. The ceremony arch was dripping in blush, coral, and cream (dahlias, garden roses, ranunculus) against a backdrop of dark pines that made every frame look like something out of a dream.

Andrea was breathtaking. Her lace fitted gown with its open back and cathedral train, her dark waves loose over her shoulders, that bouquet overflowing with warm-toned blooms. She was made for this day and this day was made for her. Deion, in his champagne suit, with his unmistakable energy and that fist pump down the aisle after they were pronounced married. I mean. That photo says everything. That one moment captures exactly who they are together.

The bridal party alone was a whole event. Fourteen groomsmen in matching champagne suits with navy bow ties lined up in the forest for a bridal party portrait that looked like a movie poster. The bridesmaids in navy against all that green. Everyone laughing, everyone present, everyone clearly deeply in love with this couple and with being there.

I have been so fortunate to carry this relationship well beyond that wedding day. Since 2020, I've had the honor of photographing two maternity sessions with Andrea and Deion: first when they were expecting baby Myla (read that session here), and again when baby number two was on the way (read that one here). And then a full family session that brought three generations together in Clackamas County (read that here).

That's the kind of work that reminds me why I do this. Not just the wedding day, but the chapter after it, and the one after that.

Andrea and Deion, thank you for continuing to let me be part of your story. Here's to whatever comes next.
