A Wedding at the Fremont Foundry | Seattle, Washington
Some venues have a story before you even walk in the door. The Fremont Foundry is one of those. A former working metal foundry and artist commune in the heart of Seattle's Fremont neighborhood — the kind of place where the Jimi Hendrix statue was born, where decades of creativity soaked into the walls — it carries a history you can actually feel. Industrial and warm all at once, with soaring vaulted ceilings, a sky-lit atrium, and a rooftop terrace with sweeping views of North Seattle that will absolutely stop you in your tracks.
Kristen and Brian knew exactly what they were doing when they booked it.
The ceremony happened on the rooftop, which is the only correct way to get married at the Fremont Foundry if the Seattle sky is cooperating — and on this day it was. Open air, city views stretching out in every direction, the kind of backdrop that makes you feel like the whole city is witnessing something. Kristen was stunning. Brian looked like a man who knew exactly how lucky he was. The whole thing felt elevated and intimate at the same time, which is a balance that's harder to achieve than it looks.
And then there was Niall.
Their little one was present for the whole celebration, which added a layer of joy to the day that I didn't know I needed until I was right in the middle of it. By the time the dancing started Niall was being swung around the dance floor with complete and total abandon — tiny and delighted and completely in their element — and I was photographing it with the biggest smile behind my lens. There is nothing quite like a baby on a dance floor to remind you what a celebration is actually for.
Kristen, for her part, came fully prepared to dance. Midway through the reception she disappeared and came back in an outfit change that said one thing very clearly: we are just getting started. Which they were. The Foundry's historic space, those vaulted ceilings and warm industrial bones, held the energy of that dance floor beautifully — the kind of room that was built for exactly this kind of joy, even if it didn't know it at the time.
Kristen and Brian — thank you for having me in that incredible space for your day. Niall on the dance floor. The rooftop ceremony. The outfit change that launched a thousand moves. It was a really, really good night.
