Nick & Lindsey | A Fall Wedding at Lucy's Garden in Ridgefield, Washington
It started at Windy Hills Winery — a proposal among the vines in Ridgefield, Washington, on a day I was lucky enough to be there to photograph. (You can see the full proposal session [here → link coming soon].)
Their wedding day felt like a natural continuation of that same warmth. Lucy's Garden is a family-owned property on five acres in Ridgefield, with a lush garden, a charming pond, and that big, beautiful red barn that anchors the whole property. It's rustic without being rough — the kind of place that does a lot of the work for you just by existing.
We started the morning with a first look in the garden. Lindsey came out in her lace gown — cap sleeves, a sweeping train, holding an autumn bouquet that was honestly one of the most beautiful I've ever photographed: red zinnias, copper dahlias, wildflower grasses, burgundy leaves trailing down from the stems like the whole thing had been gathered from a fall meadow five minutes before. Nick turned around, and that was it. The whole day lived in his face in that moment.
The ceremony was held under Lucy's Garden's covered pavilion — timber beams overhead, string lights, a wooden arch dressed in autumn florals, and every guest packed in close to witness it. There's something about a covered outdoor ceremony that feels both sheltered and open at the same time, and this one was exactly that.
Cocktail hour was a full-crowd moment. We gathered everyone — and I mean everyone — for a group photo in front of the red barn, the maple blazing orange and gold above them, arms raised, pure celebration. The sign on the easel read: The Masons. I love that shot.
The tented reception was elegant and airy — white linens, navy napkins on wood-slice chargers, and hanging above it all, a stunning floral chandelier of ferns, white hydrangea, and trailing greenery suspended from the tent poles on jute rope. Simple, but the kind of simple that takes real vision.
And then, at the very end of the evening, we snuck out.
The flower field at Lucy's Garden at golden hour is something else entirely. Sunflowers, cosmos in every shade of pink and purple, wildflowers going soft in the fading light — the whole scene felt like it had been waiting all day just for this. Nick and Lindsey walked through it laughing, leaned into each other in the middle of it, and we made photographs that I think will outlast everything else from that evening.
Nick and Lindsey — congratulations. It was a perfect day at a perfect place, and I'm so glad I got to be there for all of it, from the first yes at the winery to the last light in the flowers.
