Matching Pajamas & Gingerbread Houses | Portland, Oregon Couples Photographer

Some sessions you show up to and just immediately know it's going to be a good morning.

Cassie and Ash invited me into their Portland home for a holiday session that had all the right ingredients — matching penguin pajamas, a gingerbread house kit, hot cocoa, a rainbow Christmas tree with little devil horns on it, and two people who are genuinely, effortlessly fun to be around. There was no posing required. I just had to keep up.

The gingerbread house was technically the activity. The chaos that unfolded around it was the real content. Icing bags wielded like weapons, candy negotiations… These two have the kind of comfort with each other that makes every frame feel lived-in and real, which is exactly what a session like this is supposed to feel like.

Portland in December does a specific kind of soft indoor light that I love to shoot in, and their home had it in abundance. Warm and a little chaotic in the best way — art on every wall, tinsel everywhere, the kind of space that tells you exactly who the people living in it are.

Cassie and Ash, thank you for having me over and for sharing your morning. And your hot cocoa. And the gingerbread house drama.
