A Destination Wedding in Vietnam Coming Home | Ho Chi Minh City
When Linh decided to get married in Ho Chi Minh City, she wasn't just choosing a location. She was bringing the people she loves most into the world that made her — the streets she grew up on, the family she carries with her always, the culture and color and life of Vietnam that lives in her bones whether she's there or not. She invited her closest friends and family to come see it. To step inside her story for a few days and understand her more fully.
Elliott showed up for all of it. Together they wove Vietnamese and Jewish traditions into something that felt entirely their own — honoring both of their histories without diminishing either one, creating something new from the pieces of where they each came from.
The morning began with a traditional Vietnamese processional, Linh stunning in a red dress — that deep, celebratory red that carries so much meaning and history — surrounded by family, moving through a tea ceremony and a gift exchange that felt sacred and warm and full of the kind of emotion that doesn't need translation. I moved quietly through it all, trying to stay out of the way of something that was clearly bigger than the photographs.
And then the evening arrived.
Linh changed looks entirely — stepping into a sophisticated, elegant dress for their waterfront wedding as the city came alive around them. Ho Chi Minh City at night is something else. The riverfront glittering, the skyline rising behind them, flowers and lights absolutely everywhere — abundant and lush and completely over the top in the best possible way. It was romantic and cinematic and electric all at once. The kind of backdrop that makes every frame feel like it was art directed, except none of it was — it was just the city, being itself, on the night two people got married on its riverbank.
I was behind my lens, thinking what I always think in moments like this: I cannot believe this is my job.
Here's the thing about destination weddings — I will go anywhere. Truly, anywhere. Vietnam, Iceland, the Scottish Highlands, a mountaintop, a jungle, a city that hums with a history I'm still learning. Bring me into your world, wherever that world is, and I will show up with everything I have. Every destination teaches me something new about light, about people, about the thousand different ways love gets celebrated around the world — and every single one of those weddings has made me a better photographer and a more grateful human.
If you're planning a destination wedding and you want someone who will not just show up but will be genuinely, completely, enthusiastically there — let's talk. Take me around the world. I mean that.
Real Review:
I have used many photographers in the past but none came close to the level of expertise that Leah possesses. Over the years, I've done business headshots with her, family photos, and most recently my wedding. Since I have used Leah's services for other things before, I knew what to expect as far as photo-quality goes; the real testimonial comes from how she handled the wedding. Shooting a wedding in another country with a chaotic family is no easy task, even I wouldn't wish it upon myself, but Leah truly knocked it out of the park: she checked in before the event day to go over the schedule, showed up early, got all of the extra shots that I requested, directed people, and just really took charge of the experience. Having her as my wedding photographer was literally one of the only non-stressful decisions I made for that event lol. The photos turned out beautifully, I really can't imagine having anyone else capture one of the most important events of my life. I recommend her wholeheartedly!!
